Particularly when trying to kill a Cal Scout. Never seems to work out well. Once got into a smack down with a player in the Gal Research facility. It took eight times connecting to finally register. Thankfully their gun game was atrocious.

The Minmatar Commando dishes out an extra 334 damage above that of a Min Scout with knives. The melee user can simply keep taping the melee button whilst the nova knife user must gauge the timing on when the charge meter is filled. A melee user however, must be very mindful of their stamina gauge. Sprinting is key to closing the distance on melee attacks, however if you expend all your stamina by the time you reach a target you will not be able to use your melee. The player may however still use their weapon; however, general movement and melee attack speed are faster with either a sidearm or equipment active compared to a light weapon.
Both Complex Biotics and Proto Knives are already above the killing potential needed to kill a heavy suit in 1-2 hits. While the Min Commando has a profile sig between 55-49db and a much larger hitbox than the Min Scout, the Min Commando has mobility with the Myo Stims to jump around and tank decent dps from a single target while in a berserk charge. This is effective for taking on a heavy under reps as the repping player is without an equipped weapon. The Min Commando will die very quickly when faced against 2 or more opponents with hit scan weapons like the Assault Combat Riffle or Burst Assault Riffle. Players standing over repair hives are much better suited to engage a melee commando threat.
The melee-centric focus of the Min Commando is more costly and more fitting intensive that what is needed of a Min Scout or any other suit wielding Ishukone Nova Knives. Those fitting slots may be used by ehp mods or profile dampeners, increasing the likelihood of approaching a target for a kill.

Pro-tip, if you are intending to fist a tank in the butt for maximum damage--only do a couple thrust there. Explosive damage will pro.vide enough kick that you'll col.lapse dead on the spot.
Instead, finish your trusting on top of the vehicle. A vehicle destruction glitch will spawn you below the map upon destruction leaving you immune to splash damage. However, when the vehicle assets is finally removed after destruction (in several seconds) you will be spawned back to the zone where you destroyed the tank. Keep your wits about you when you return as you may encounter additional enemy engagements.

I did advocate that he should look at making melee only apply to vehicle weak-points; however, he countered by discussing his experience with Warhammer 40k and says he intends to keep full vehicle body melee damage--and is looking into why it's currently buggy.

It's more of a band-aid for what Rattati wants to accomplish with vehicle sabotage but doesn't have the manpower to code and resources to run in game.
Vehicle Melee in Warhammer 40k: "Infantry when close up will be able to cram things into weak-spots, rip out electric equipment, and stuff grenades into holes"

Thaddeus, it's arguably more optimized on the MinMando with the recent stamina module buff (stamina pool + stamina recharge rate). It's more easier to recharge between sprinting and melee--key to a brawler build.
There are still a lot of factors which offset the CQC killing power of the brawler bunker buster that the community meta needs to catch up with in dealing with them.
e.g. players' general situational awareness is still bad. When I run this suit, I have a scan profile of 50db and still sneak up on groups of players.

I think my point was that even using a sub-optimal fit, I am maintaining hard-hitting power, with plenty of capability of follow-up attacks...and I'm not saying it needs a heavy nerf...but like many people, I feel that Myos should have a stamina cost increase associated with both punching and jumping (not necessarily a proportional cost increase either...just something to offset it) An overheat mechanic for melee would be welcome. Higher you are on the heat meter, the more stamina you require for punches. If you reach overheat, you are stunned for a second.
